India's ADITYA L-1MISSION

Launch of India’s ADITYA L-1MISSION: 2 September 2023

About India’s ADITYA L-1MISSION

Aditya-L1 Mission is India’s first space-based solar observatory launched by ISRO on 2 September 2023 to study the Sun. Positioned at Lagrange Point-1, about 1.5 million km from Earth, the satellite provides an uninterrupted view of the Sun. It carries seven scientific payloads designed to observe the solar corona, chromosphere, solar flares, and coronal mass ejections, while also analyzing the Sun’s magnetic fields and their impact on space weather. By enhancing understanding of how solar activities affect Earth’s climate, satellites, and communication systems, Aditya-L1 represents a major milestone in India’s space research, making the country one of the few globally to undertake such an advanced solar mission.
