National Space Day: 23rd August
About National Space Day
National Space Day in India is celebrated every year on 23rd August, marking the historic success of Chandrayaan-3’s landing on the Moon’s south pole in 2023—a first for any nation. Declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the day honors India’s achievements in space science and inspires future generations. In 2025, it is observed with the theme “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities,” reflecting India’s journey from ancient astronomy to modern missions like Gaganyaan. Across the country, ISRO, schools, and scientific institutions organize exhibitions, lectures, and interactive programs to ignite curiosity in students and celebrate India’s growing stature as a global space power.
