Nag Panchami is a traditional Hindu festival associated with snake worship. The festival gets its name from a combination of two words: nag, which means cobra/serpent, and panchami means the fifth day of bright half of lunar month of Shravana. It will be celebrated on August 2, 2022 this year.

On this day, people go to temples to worship snake deities and, in some cases, to snake pits to worship real snakes, where they make offerings to the snakes such as milk, sweets, and flowers. Women observe a fast or vrat during the festival, refraining from food, to symbolise devotion and discipline. It lasts from sunrise to sunset.
