India had a historic victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, and a new country, Bangladesh, was formed. After the war ended, 93,000 Pakistani troops surrendered. Pakistan was defeated in the 1971 war, and Bangladesh became independent in the aftermath of the war. That is why every year this day is celebrated as Vijay Diwas.
