Mahabalipuram Shore Temple

Shore Temple at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu

The shore temple is an earliest representation of structural temple at Mamallapuram belonging to Pallava Rajashima (Narashima-ifi period (700-728 CE). There are two shrines in this complex one faces east and other faces west named as Kshatriyasimhesvaram and Rajasimhesvaram respectively. The garbag ha consists of Sivalinga and Somaskanda panel In between these two temples, a shrine provided with a small porch is a cell without a superstructure. It enshrines a figure of reclining ficrm of Vishnu.
