Lord Mahavir was the guru of the Jain religion. Mahavira was the 24th Tirthankara of the Jain religion and he was the last Tirthankara. He led people into the world with the teachings of truth and non-violence. He left home at the age of 30 in search of spirituality, and after penance he gained knowledge.

On the day of Mahavir Jayanti, people of the Jain religion make a traditional bath (abhishek) of the statue of Mahavir Swami before praying. After that, a big procession takes place. On this day, mainly followers who believe in Jainism donate clothes, food, money and other necessities for the poor. The Jains hold lectures in the temples to introduce people to the principles of Jainism.
