Bankim Chandra Chatterjee or Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was a nationalist writer from West Bengal.

He was born on 27th June, 1838 in Naihatti, Bengal Presidency, British India (now West Bengal, India). He was a poet, journalist and novelist. In Bengali, he is also known as the Emperor of Literature. He is the Author & Composer of our National Song Vande Mataram.
