Valmiki Jayanti: 7th october
Valmiki Jayanti
Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated to honor Maharishi Valmiki, the revered sage and author of the epic Ramayana, one of the most important texts in Hinduism. He is regarded as the first poet (Adi Kavi) of Sanskrit literature. Valmiki Jayanti is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Ashwin month (September–October) according to the Hindu lunar calendar. The day celebrates his contribution to literature, philosophy, and devotion, and emphasizes moral values, righteousness, and spiritual teachings. Devotees pay homage by reading the Ramayana, performing rituals, and organizing cultural programs based on his life and teachings.
