World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated on 24th March each year to raise public awareness of the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis and strengthen efforts to end the global tuberculosis epidemic.

It started in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacteria that causes tuberculosis, which opened the way for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

This day is to educate the public about the impact of tuberculosis around the world.
