It is celebrated every year on 23rd April. The day was started by UNESCO in 1995 to promote reading, publishing and copyright. It is also known as the World Book and Copyright Day or the International Day of the Book. World Book Day highlights the importance of books in our lives. As books are links between the past and the future, it can also be seen as a bridge between generations and across cultures.
