Sarojini Naidu – The Nightingale of India

Sarojini Naidu (born 13th February 1879, Hyderabad—died 2nd March 1949, Lucknow). She was a political activist, feminist & poet. She was the first female President of the Indian National Congress and after independence she became the first woman Governor of Uttar Pradesh. She was also a part of the Indian National Movement.

She was an exceptional student with knowledge of Urdu, Telegu, English, Bengali, Persian. She will always be remembered as one of the founders of modern, secular India.
