The Bureau of Energy Efficiency, under the Ministry of Power, is celebrated on National Energy Conservative Day every year on December 14th since 1991. The objective of National Energy Conservation Day is to drive mass awareness of the importance of energy efficiency and conservation. BEE recognises and encourages those industries that are making an effort to reduce energy consumption, felicitating them with National Energy Conservation Awards. There are prizes awarded to the winners of the annual National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation, by BEE. The awards were given away for the first time in December 14 1991, which is celebrated as “National Energy Conservation Day” throughout the country.
