“Observation, Reason, Human Understanding, Courage; these make the physician.”― Martin H. Fischer

Doctors are among the most important people in our society. A single physician can treat thousands of patients. During the Covid-19 pandemic, their role has become even more critical. Many doctors have risked their lives to serve the people. It is our responsibility to recognise and honour doctors for their noble work.

Every year on July 1st, India observes National Doctor’s Day. The day is observed to recognise the significant contribution of doctors and physicians and to appreciate them for their unwavering service to humanity.

It also marks the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. Mr. Roy was a well-known doctor, philanthropist, and politician.

In collaboration with several non-governmental organisations, hospitals organise free medical checkup camps for the general public. Additionally, award and commemorative events for doctors are held at various levels.

Doctors are vital members of society. In fact, they are the only saviour in the face of disease and poor health. Their efforts to keep society free of diseases and misery must be recognised. For centuries, doctors have served society in various capacities, helping to keep it healthy and happy.
