Maithali Sharan Gupt was born on 3rd August 1886, in Chirgaon, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Seth Ramcharan Gupta & mother’s name was Kashibai. He was a modern Hindi Poets. He disliked school as a child, so his father arranged for his education at home. Gupta studied Sanskrit, English and Bengali. Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi was his mentor.
Maithali Sharan Gupt started his career with writing poems for Hindi magazines like Saraswati. In 1910, his first marjor work, Rang mein Bhang was published by the Indian Press. He was appointed an honorary member of the Rajya Sabha in the Indian Parliament. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1954.
