Every year on November 15, Jharkhand commemorates its founding. In the year 2000, Jharkhand was separated from Bihar after the Bihar Reorganization Act, 2000, was passed by the Indian Parliament.

The day also marks the birth aniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda, also known as Bhagwan Birsa.

Birsa Munda, a tribal freedom fighter and religious leader, was born on November 15, 1875 in Ulihatu, district Khunti, Jharkhand.

The northeastern Indian state of Jharkhand is frequently referred to as “The land of the forests.” The Day is celebrated with great joy in Jharkhand State.
