“Knowledge gives us power, love gives us the fullness.”
– Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan

Our teachers have taught us a lot. Their teachings guide us through every stage of our lives. They are the most important people in our lives, which is why we celebrate Teacher’s Day to honour them. It is a day to show respect to the most promising relationship between teachers and students.

In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated annually on September 5th. This is a day to recognise and appreciate our teachers for their invaluable contributions. Teachers are the ones who have the actual knowledge, patience, and kindness for their students. Our teachers have been a huge support towards our success.

The day also commemorates the birth anniversary Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. He also served as president of India. Prior to entering politics, he taught at a number of prestigious universities, including Calcutta University, the University of Mysore, and Oxford University. When he became President of India, his students expressed a desire to have his birthday celebrated every year. But Dr. Radhakrishnan suggested marking his birthday as Teacher’s Day. Since then, the entire country has observed his birth aniversary as Teacher’s Day in order to honour their teachers.

A teacher, at times, plays more critical job than our parents. They shape up our future and build up our mind to differentiate between right and wrong. Each student should value and regard their teachers. Their challenging work and sacrifices for our mental development are unimaginable and hence it should be appreciated at every stage of our lives.
