Chaitra Navratri is a nine-day Hindu festival which is the celebration of ‘Shakti’ or ‘Power’ which is celebrated in the month of Chaitra according to the Hindu calendar.
All major pilgrimages and temples, including the 51 Shaktipeethas, become crowded with devotees of Adi Shakti offering prayers and seeking blessings.
Both men and women, offer prasad, flowers, light up the earthen lamp, burn incense sticks and chant mantras, slokas and sing aarti etc.
It is a time for contemplation and cleansing and is traditionally seen as a auspicious time for starting new ventures.
